Wild geranium I got this plant from a friend years ago and they come up every year if the deer leave them alone. They are pretty in pink and a close up sows that they rival the crepe style petals, the anther and stigma of the hibiscus.

I wonder if anyone else see the resemblance of this geranium and the hibiscus flower . One very tiny geranium flower compared to a huge hibiscus flower. Just curious?

That's not a Geranium, it's one of the Mallows, probably Malva moschata.

I thought the similarity was quite amazing between the two plants when comparing the hibiscus Flower to the geranium Flower.

When comparing the geranium Flower to mallow or hardy hibiscus Flower in the Larger blow up geranium pic really is a wild geranium Cranesbill Wild Geranium Maculatum A SEE link Below.

More of the same flower pics from the plants showing actual size. The leaves are geranium leaves.

I blew up the geranium flower for comparison to the Hardy hibiscus or mallow flower only.....they are amazingly so similar in structure. However not in size or leaf shapes.

These are from the Cranesbill wild geranium..just blown up...they are only about 2" flowers

The wild geranium really does look very similar to mallow or hardy hibiscus flowers however the leaves, structure and growth pattern are different .And the deer haven't gobbled them up this season. Hurray!

It's a very hardy plant and a lovely filler for floral designs.

Sorry, that is definitely NOT Geranium maculatum or a Geranium of any sort .
Geranium maculatum is native here so I'm very familiar with it.

It is a species within the Malvaceae (family). It's likely Malva but could possibly be something else, like Sidalcea.

It's certainly pretty! Lovey dubby

Looks nothing like the link you provided, they may be palmatum leaves but yours are not geranium leaves. And the bloom doesn't look anything like yours.
Please post all your images in the Plant ID forum

Your bloom is a dead ringer for this one

And the leaves and bud cluster in this shot match yours, 2 more images in that entry

It's tricky and 3 people agree it's a mallow. I got it ...finally... I tip my hat to you.

Storksbill (Pelargonium 'Citronella') The leaves in my pic are similar to this pelargonium posted in the plant data base.
That is what was so confusing. I see the difference in the leaves now . See pics..

EDIT: Sorry, Just cross-posted with you! Smiling

A lot of plants in Malvaceae have palmate leaves.

However, you never start with leaves when trying to identify a plant. Leaves can be variable even within a single species and wildly variable within a genus or family.
Plants are classified based on flower structure. It makes sense since a species must be sexually compatible and flowers contain plants' reproductive organs. The most noticeable issue is that your flowers each have a staminal column. Geraniums never have a staminal column.

Also, the seed pods are not right for Geranium.

DANITA.. Thank You! for the resources. I see how they are very different. It was tricky but glad to have Malvaceae in my garden much hardier than geranium storksbill Pelargonium makes more sense. And then the sticky geranium close leaves but different flowers.

Garden pic very similar leaves but flowers are different
