Hello folks, first poster here. We are building a juniper retaining wall in our backyard to replace a crumbling lava rock "wall" and significant lawn level issues. Here is the question. I am having a hard time deciding what height to build the wall. Using the height at the back of the yard and leveling off that would mean bringing the height to 4 timbers and probably 13-15 yards of topsoil. The other option is to build the height to three timbers and then slope gently toward the wall, which doesn't sound that great. Should I just go for it and use 4 timbers and wrap my brain around wheel borrowing 15 yards of top soil? Please help!! DIY's, pro's......any thoughts would be appreciated!
