I'm from SoCal and just received two cuttings. If I plant them now when can I expect them to root? Should I even plant them now? It's been like 100 degrees this past few days.

I would first wait until they callus well if they have not callused very well yet (anywhere from 3-10 days). Then plant it in morning sun. It should root in about 3 months but there is always lots of wiggle room in that estimate (more time or even less). See:
