Instead of using cardboard I now use plastic. Just go to the Dollar Tree and buy one of those plastic 3 ring binders and use that instead of cardboard. Lasts longer and doesn't get mushy.

This is an AWESOME tip! Any other DIY embossable tags have sharp metal edges unless you do a lot of fussing with them. Brilliant! Thank you!

For those who make tags by recycling metal soda cans... I bet you could sandwich the metal from the cans between pieces of HVAC tape and do away with the sharp edges.
