Its an experiment for sure. They have to ripen and turn red then get sown.

This is great! I've read about this a few times but don't have enough plants to try it. Lol
Have you grown many alocasias from seed?

I bet you will get some nice seeds. They look like they are getting big. How long on average do they take to ripen?

Kristen, this is my first time LOL. I have grown many many Anthuriums from seed, but never tried to pollinate my alocasias before. They are very time sensitive. Once the spadix comes into view, the pollen is only viable for about 24 hours. And you have to do a little surgery on the spathe to be able to get the pollen down to the flowers. This will be my first foray.
Pheadra, I am not certain. I will just have to keep eyes on them until the are ripe.
Its a mad scientist experiment LOL

Yes! Updates...I've read about having to slice the spathe, did you just make a slit, and pollinate with a brush down toward the bottom? Looking forward to the process.

Was the pollen clearly visible/differentiable or is it just assumed that any visible spadex is coated in pollen? I found it hard to tell if my recent spadex ever had pollen.

It is hard to tell. I just kind of took it on faith. The berries did start to form but they did not ripen

Hi Gina,
I just came across your post today. Have you tried pollenating any more alocasias? I've been looking for pics of pollenated alocasia flowers to see if mine worked.
