Hi everyone! I'm visiting from the irises forum. I have just a few peonies, but am looking into getting more. Smiling

I'd love to find a U.S. source for Anika: a single white with pink veins. Gets about 2 ft tall. I really like that the new foliage emerges reddish purple and apparently holds the color for a long time.

Here's a link about Anika:
https://uk.paeoniapassion.com/...

Any leads are appreciated!

Also, any other suggestions for peonies that hold the red/purple spring foliage for a long time, AND don't need caging? I have peony 'Nice Gal.'

Picture dated April 8:

Two weeks later still some red color:

Such colorful foliage for so long really extends the season of interest. :smily:

Thanks, everyone! Smiling

Welcome! Laurie!

I cannot help with Anika, have seen it only on the same website.

I would suggest following peonies that keep interesting and colored foliage for quite some time after emergence, and they don't nee any support: Roselette, Early Scout, Fernleaf Hybrid (at Adelman's), Alex Woollcott, Merry Mayshine, Ludovica.

Welcome! Laurie!

I did see that Warmerdam carries Anika.

They have a group buy for the USA, which is cheaper than directly importing from them. Look for this option when checking out. All participating customers' orders are sent to his agent, and she divides them out and mails them on to the US customers. It saves on the import fees. The roots are high quality.

I just logged in, and Anika is available. The price is €55.

Thank you for the leads, Anya and Mieko! I've been looking up info on the cultivars suggested to see what I can learn. And Warmerdam is the website where I discovered Anika---I just didn't realize they shipped to the U.S. Hopefully shipping charges won't be too high.
Thanks so much! Smiling

Mandarin's Coat has dark red early foliage and keeps it for several weeks as well. Have you looked at adding hardy hibiscus? There are several that keep the dark red foliage all season.

My Hardy Hibiscus had it first bloom today!!! It is red foliage and red flower and planted this year from a tiny root. There is a wonderful place about four season garden in the UK where this couple designed using evergreens and red foliage plants among other things. Might not be helpful, but sure is beautiful and has given me a number of ideas.
