Has anyone here tried ordering from Flora Siam? https://florasiam.com/

They've got a bazillion varieties and cheap prices, and they do seem willing to ship to the US -- BUT they're in Thailand, and so far as I could see on a quick look they don't even post their bulb sizes.

I'd love to hear about anyone's experience with them!

I went to the florasiam website. How do you know that they ship to the USA? The homepage states that they ship to Asia and the Oceanic countries and provide a plant inspection sticker from Thailand. You had better call them before you make an order. It is difficult to get bulbs into the USA since they need a Dept of Agriculture inspection sticker in order to be imported. So unless they are shipped as misc merchandise, the bulbs will be not get through customs without that document. Each country has different rules about importation of plant material.

"I went to the florasiam website. How do you know that they ship to the USA?"

Because I put items in my shopping cart and then went through the checkout process up to the point of submitting my credit card info. Entered my shipping address and so on -- their address form even includes the US states. And the fact that their prices are in US dollars is another clue. ;-)

"You had better call them before you make an order."

I don't know whether I'll order or not. It's always risky to order from any unknown, especially overseas. But the shipping charges aren't bad, so maybe I'll try it out just to see.

"It is difficult to get bulbs into the USA since they need a Dept of Agriculture inspection sticker"

They offer phytosanitary certificates -- $18, I think.

I would love to be proved wrong on this one. If it works, great news, since it would be another source. Try it and let us know what happens.

Ehhh, I think I've changed my mind already. The shipping isn't unreasonable -- $17 -- and the phytosanitary certificate isn't unreasonable -- $18 -- but if you add them together, that's an extra $35 just to place the order. I've decided the varieties they're offering aren't exciting enough to justify the extra expense, especially since many of the varieties don't have bulb sizes listed and since it's an overseas company unknown to us.

I really would like to get Mandela, though. Now I'm waffling between ordering a few from Amaryllis Bulb Company so I can get Mandela, or just adding a couple of other varieties onto my existing Scheepers order. Can you tell I'm in the mood to buy something? ;-)

Sadly, it looks like two varieties I REALLY want -- Saffron and Dragonfly (or Dragon Fly) -- just aren't gonna be gettable this year. Scheepers and Van Engelen are both sold out of Saffron, and Fedco has stopped taking orders for the year already. And I can't find Dragonfly anywhere in the States. Oh Well, it's not like I really need anymore amaryllis anyway!
