I've already got a small 4 shelf mini greenhouse I used to harden off plants last spring. I'm looking to add another (bigger if I can find the space). Either way, I'm debating between one with the clear cover or the green cover. Which would be best? It's mostly for seedlings and hardening off. Here's some examples of what I'm looking at.


When I compare ones that are the same size, there's only a few dollars difference between type of cover so I could get either. It would likely end up on the south side of our house which basically gets sun all day if it's on the deck, or sun all afternoon/ evening if it's on the ground.

The green roof is essentially a shade roof. I don't think it's going to make much difference to seedlings. It will filter out a small amount of the red and blue light plants use, but this sort of plastic is not an efficient color filter.

Consider if the shade would work against something you want, like growing light-loving plants in winter, and otherwise buy what you think looks best.

Newbie greenhouse question. I just purchased a similar greenhouse, I live in San Diego, and was hoping to keep a few tropical plants in there. (Outside tropical s during frost, and some year round. I've set it up outside, on a east west axis, it will get morning east, early afternoon south sun. It dawned on me that I haven't educated myself on how much light this material lets through. The only article I've found is that this is a sort of 6mm plastic that lets about 91% of the light though. I'm concerned about burning my plants! Do I need a shade cover for these type of greenhouses? Thanks!!
