Hey Everyone,

A few days ago, I saw a reasonably priced Plumeria Rubra plant at home Depot and brought it home. I left it in a partially shady spot in our front walkway, but we've been experiencing a heatwave and overnight almost all the leaves drooped and shriveled. After finding it in this condition about 24 hours after bringing it home, I did thoroughly water it once. Now two days later the soil is still moist, but the plant looks even worse.

I brought it inside as I think the sun/humidity isn't doing it any favors, but I'm wondering if it's salvageable at this point. You can see the tips of the branches where the leaves are dead are shriveled/discolored. Do I cut these parts off, or even lower were it starts to branch out? Bottom of the stem feels normal/healthy.

Yes. You're going to have to cut both branches off almost to they Y. Cut until you see clean white sap. No discoloration. Stop watering for sure. That soil looks very wet. That's not going to do it any favors.
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

Someone posted about this about 2 months ago. I forget who but home depot has a bad habit about overwatering plumerias at their stores. After I read it I did notice that the plants they had were soaked and the lower stocks were soft. Once they start to rot the only way to save them is to cut them and re-root.
This takes time tho and you've lost this year. Buyer beware.

Thanks everybody. I ended up repotting it because soil never dried after that one and only watering. I think it was because of the humidity we've been having. The roots looked pretty decent when I repotted, so I think it will be okay. Cut the branches and it's doing much better now!
