Hi all,
I purchased this fiddle leaf from a friend who was moving and I've had it about a 2 months now.
The only care I have administered is 1 gallon of spring water every week and, when I remember (it's tricky), wipe down the leaves I can reach to remove dust.
The tree gets a LOT of light, and the room can get quite warm (thermostat is normally around 74/75 daytime, 69 nighttime). As you can see in the images light comes from all angles and it's south east facing so it gets sunrise to sunset (all day). I also live in Los Angeles so winter doesn't really exist.
Some of the leave, even newer leaves, appear to be wilting in certain areas.
So, my main areas of concern are:
1) What else should I be doing to nurture the tree to ensure healthy leaves and branches?
2) I understand it's possible to conjour new branches by cutting into existing branches, trunks. Is there a good guide out there for doing this?
3) As you can see some branches really do come out horizontally. At some point I'd like to prune them right down and try and start new branches that are more vertical. Nervous to attempt that as it still looks pretty good right now.
Any help would be great! Happy to send more photos and give more info.
