Are they in the ground or in containers?

Right now they are in the ground. We had a killing freeze last night and today the plants are turning black. I live in zone 6.

After a killing freeze, cut the stalks leaving about 4". Dig the tubers, wash the dirt off and place in the sun to dry for one or two days. After dry, place in a grocery bag with some peat moss, put away until time to replant in the spring.

Thank you. That sounds easy enough. Our forecast is for wintry weather this week. Supposed to start snowing this morning and continue through tomorrow, then off and on for a few days with temperatures getting into the teens 😟. Not much sun. Could they dry as well in the house? Or should I leave them in the ground until the end of the week when the weather moderates?

Don't leave them. Dig them up now. They will dry in the house as well, just put them on something that can allow some air flow around them if possible.

Got the job done at 33 degrees and misty! But they are in the garage cut and clean.
Thanks a lot! Thank You!
