So I have ben trying to grow some of the higher elevation colder growing species of Anthuriums. Its a stretch here in hot hot florida for sure. I got an Anthurium metallicum a little over a year ago and it did extremely well until we hot the dog days of summer here, when the days were never under 95-98F and nights 75-78F. The plant, which had been steadily cranking out leaves, stalled out and stopped growing. I was afraid I would lose it, because a friend who has one farther South in FL said hers did this before it (sob! )died. SO I decided to take drastic measures and brought it into the house. During the day I hung it in my sunroom near the AC vent, and I out it out at night, then brought it in a gain the next mid-morning. While there wan't any obvious improvement (like a new leaf) there was also no decline. Now we have moved out of the 90's, into the daytime temp range of about 80-88 and 68-72 at night. I out it out in the greenhouse again, and just this slight change in temps caused it to resume active growth! Yesterday a new leaf came out! SO excited!

Nice! I bet its exciting to see one of these exotic beauties grow a leaf. I hope mine will and won't die on me. I haven't found my green thumbs yet. At present I guess it will go through acclimation. One of the small stems is drooping tonight so I loosely staked it. I repotted the plant yesterday after hydrating it in some Kelpmax solution and luckily, the mix I made is close to your recipe in your earlier thread so at least there's that. I put some aroid mix in it from OFE which had bark, Promix, and perlite already in it. Then I added more fine/classic orchiata, some bigger perlite, and some charcoal. I put it all in a small plastic orchid pot with drainage holes at the bottom. Now I will just have to develop some 'anthurium fingers' to know when to water it.
