I have over 200 peony plants. I request a separate category for peonies:)

I put my five peony entries in the Misc category...

Frank, I believe in past photo contests there have been numerous requests for plant specific categories but with 750,000 plants in the database, if every request were agreed upon, the category list would end up being extremely long. We have 20 categories in this years contest and I don't know if that's more or less than in past contests but unless it's not too late for admin. to add another category to this years contest, your Peony photos may have to go into the category of "Other Annuals and Perennials."

I would think you could also put them in the tree & shrub category.
Maybe next year a peony category could be considered since the contest is already in progress.

I think that having just the one category for "Other Annuals and Perennials" makes for a very difficult decision as to which 5 photos to enter, not that many considering the number of plants there are. Could we please go back to separate categories for annuals and perennials like it was before, at least then I would have 5 more of my beautiful photos to enter. Thank You! Crossing Fingers!

The problems with having annuals and perennials separate is many did not know the difference and they would list plants like petunias as annuals, even though they are perennials. Those in colder zones of course grow them as annuals, but that doesn't make them annuals.

I know, but does it really matter if it is in one or the other? petunias are annuals here as are most tender plants. I only recall maybe one person complaining about it, all that caused was getting them all lumped together. It was the the same with the macro, which I also wish you would add in next years contest, again it doesn't really matter if it is a close up or a true macro, people really enjoyed it and there were always lots of entries, it was one of my favorite.
