You'll have to be very patient with "Pitter Patter" ..... It can take several years to settle in and multiply. I even sent some to a friend in a warmer climate to see if she could get it to multiply and it sulked for her too. Plant it in a prime location and just leave it be ... it's a mistake to think maybe it would do better in a different location, it does not like to be moved.

Once it's a decent size clump, it does have a nice well branched scape and the blooms are high above the foliage. Very pod fertile, but I haven't seen any "spots" on the kids, so I have given up. The amount of spots is variable, but it is cute and very unique.

Dave Mussar has produced a seedling from 'Pitter Patter' that shows the spots. The other parent was 'Pink Stripes'. You can see it at http://dave.mussar.com/NewSeed...

I would guess that 'Pitter Patter' crossed with near whites might produce seedlings with spots and possibly when crossed with some light pinks and some light yellows. I would guess that the spots would not be visible if the other parent was a deeper red or purple, especially if the other parent was from a line of darker reds or purples.

Dave does not have any for sale, however. I know because I tried to buy it from him. Whistling

Crossing with near whites was more of my end goal. I like the look of the plant which is what made me interested in buying it, but if I were going to work it into my own stuff, I would am exactly along that line.

My impression of the spots on "Pitter Patter", is that it's caused by an absence of pigment, not spots of a different color.

Hi Anna:
You may find it at Canning Daylily Gardens in Canning
, NS. Wayne brought some pieces to our plant sale in July saying he had a big clump to divide. Of course, a lot of people then showed interest in it so I don't know if he has any left. You can find him on facebook too. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your kind comment beckygardener. I am slowly figuring out this website but it is taking me some time as I am completely unfamiliar with this format . Having spent over 10 years on Gardenweb this is quite different . However , GW is not the same as it once was and I think once I figure out how to move around in this site it will suit me much more that GW does at this time. I am a daylily fan -atic and it is exciting to find other daylily fans here . No doubt that is the main forum I will be watching and posting . Thanks again for your warm welcome
