Over the summer my plant really went through it all; pest infestation, broken stem etc but managed to pull through after removing all of the leaves and some of the pseudo-stem. In the last 2/3 weeks it has produced 4 leaves (and a 5th now emerging) as well as what appears to be a small pup.

In the last few days I have noticed mould growing on top of the soil (a mixture of sphagnum peat moss, cactus mix and perlite). On top of this, the plant doesn't seem to be drinking any water. I haven't watered it for around 2 weeks because my moisture meter tells me the soil is incredibly wet. However, the plant still seems to be thriving. I changed its soil about a month ago as it wasn't seeming to absorb any water and I thought there was an issue, but the same thing is happening.

Should I remove the moss? Try a different type of soil? The roots looked very healthy a month ago when I first changed their soil after experiencing this issue.

Did you do anything? Had I seen this earlier I would have said it's natural don't do anything. As far as the watering, I would use my finger to tell if it needs water or not. Hope it's doing o.k.

Hi @CPPgardener - Thanks for getting back to me. I haven't touched it! It has happened on a couple of my plants but I'm glad it is natural. I gather it won't cause any harm to the plant or encourage pests etc?
