Hi guys,

So since about a month or so, I have a problem with two of my Monstera Thai Constellations, one is being more problematic than the other but pretty much they have the same issue. A month ago or so the temperatures here have started dropping but I try to ensure that the plants stay at least at a temperature of at least 17C (62F) the majority of the time, however, they are at 20C (68F), the temperature varries as we have a roof window which we open sometimes for fresh air and to access the roof terrace.

They both have started killing off their older leaves. At first I thought - fine, it is normal but about a week ago, one of them started more agressively killing a leaf after a leaf... They just turn yellow and eventually die off. The thai in question has lost 4 leaves in the course of a month and is killing off a 5th one now, the other one has lost 3 so far but not in such a drastic matter, like: when it grew two new leaves, an old one died. All of the leaves dying are the oldest ones.
The one that has been agressively dropping her pretty leaves is actually producing a new leaf at the moment.

They are under grow lights due to the season. They are in terracota pots, planted in a potting medium of roughly equal parts orchid bark, perlite and potting soil. They are watered whenever the soil has had a good time to dry out (I always check it). I have repotted them when I received them in May this year, they were in 15cm pots, now they are in 23cm pots. I noticed as I was checking the other day that there are roots coming out from the hole of the pot on both of them. The one that has not been dropping aggressively leaves also has roots coming from the soil and up.

I have two baby thais growing next to them and they are not dropping any leaves. I also have a normal monstera variegata growing next to them that at the same time dropped 1 leaf (her oldest).

All of the plants are fungus and pest-free.

So my question is, does anyone have any idea what could be wrong here? It just started out of the blue a month ago, as I said and I am confused by the leaves loss. The one that has lost already so aggressively 4 leaves has not been losing any leaves so far.

Should I be repotting them into larger pots? I honestly did not think that they would outgrow their pots SO fast. Or is it just a seasonal thing? Is it the change of temperature that they experience sometimes due to the opening of the window?

Thank you in advance for your time and help! Smiling I hope you are all staying safe!

Check your meristem really well and be sure there is no rot.

Thank you, Gina! By meristem I guess you mean the whole actual stem of the plant? There is no rot anywhere on any visible parts of the stem. Everything is firm and looks healthy and green and nice, even the parts where the leaves dropped off. Visible, meaning, as far as I can dig into the soil and check up on the stem without actually removing the plant from the pot.
