I'm New to the birds and bees forums. I've decided to make this thread because I recently saw a common grackle outside. I think that all birds are funny in general, but most of all are the common grackles. Hilarious!

I remember growing up seeing hundreds of those birds in my front and back yard. And as soon as one of the birds saw something coming their way, they would all fly away into the trees. Rolling on the floor laughing

Common grackles all walk like pigeons, moving their heads in hundreds of different directions, and eating whatever small things that they could find on the ground, such as pebbles or accorns. Rolling on the floor laughing
Not only people give others signs, but plants do too.

In these parts, roadrunners are entertainment. They don't fly, but are talented at hopping from one thing to another to get on roofs and into trees. Then they glide down to earth with elegance and grace. Mostly they, well, run—and are somehow humorous whatever they're doing. Parents with babies scuttling along behind are always good for a smile. It's no wonder the roadrunner made a popular cartoon character, and like the cartoon version, something about their attitudes seems smart and streetwise. They are a common sight running across roads with lizards or snakes clamped in their beaks. They forage for worms, beetles, grubs and other ground-dwellers, but this summer I watched one eating a dead sparrow (cat casualty, I think), and although I realize they are carnivores and meat is meat, still it was disconcerting.

I think there are a ton of funny birds. Sassy Bluejays (my namesake) because they're so darn sassy (especially the scrub jays we have here!). I also think the American Dipper is a riot! They bob up and down while standing on rocks in rivers. They're super weird but they seem to know what they're doing! Rolling on the floor laughing

Humming birds are a fav to watch as they fly so fast thru trees and spin around in the air with acrobatic skills so unbelievable until you see them pull off some very tricky stunts.

They are so territorial watching them fly like a helicopter floating in the air in one area guarding their space.

Last summer one tiny hummer was caught between the landing post and the bottle. One wing and head caught between the feeder and landing post. I went out and gently pulled him out. Held him sadly thinking he was a goner didn't move a muscle. Then all of a sudden flew straight up and off, scared 😱 me, yet I was happy he was OK.

From that day on to this day, he is still around thru the winter , he follows me around the yard and watches me like a hawk. He has been my flight Angel , even escorts me down a very long driveway to take the trash out. 🧚‍♀️

Nuthatches, hummingbirds, and woodpeckers. Nuthatches have often been on the suet feeder, but they also now come to a feeder at my window and are very territorial about it. If another bird comes near while they're on it, they spread out their wings in a way that reminds me of Dracula opening his cape, and that alone scares the others away. I'm not sure I'll ever get a good pic of that because of being through glass, but I really wish I could one of these days.

Hummingbirds are always funny. They've taken to perching above me on the wires quite often between feeding from the flowers.

What are you doing down there with my flowers?!

I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

My vote is for the Western Scrub Jay. This one is one of a few that visit me. You should see them when you put a "few" peanuts in front of them. They will literally pick every one up more than a few times and still can't make up their mind which one is heavier.....quite comical.... Smiling

I vote for Magpies - they have such personalities. I have a nest (pile of twigs) in a Colorado Blue Spruce in my yard. The hatch from a couple of years ago seems to stay around. They love any of the seeds, but watching them try to get into a peanut is fun. They peck a hole and then carry it off to the field to eat. There are 8 of them and they come to the feeder only in the morning.
