I know several of you have expressed interest over the years of developing a spreadsheet for peonies documenting bloom time, type, scent, etc. I saw this on Green Works. Full of great information.

If you are having trouble viewing, go to the Green Works web site. It is posted there also.

That's a great spreadsheet! Thanks, Gary! I hope you got all your peonies planted at your new home.

Does anyone have the Itoh Enduring Rainbow?? I'm going to have to Google it.

Okay, I googled it, and @lizbest posted a photo in the peony database here. Maybe she'll have more information on it. It's a Donald Smith Itoh.

Enduring Rainbow is not registered. I am sure he did not register all his peonies (like Visions of Sugar Plums)

Very entertaining spreadsheet, Gary. I will certainly look at it again when ordering next batch of peonies, but I do not understand why Festiva Maxima has more points compare to Etched Salmon or Raspberry Sundae. Not big fan of it to be honest. Also all corals are represented quite strongly and some even have points for smell.

LG, to be honest I'm not sure where Enduring Rainbow is right now! I know which bed it was in—the one that was moved to AL last fall, but I'm not sure if I put it in a grow bag that stayed in the garage last winter or if it was planted int the bed that was overtaken by weeds this year....it is tagged so I will find it again, eventually. It was nice—bushy and healthy foliage—last spring but I don't think I had any blooms. Lots of Itohs didn't bloom last spring, think because of the late blizzard we had. I looked through last spring's pics and didn't have a single one of an Itoh in that bed at all.

Thanks Liz! It will be so exciting for you when everything starts blooming down in Alabama!

Gary, I'll have to check it out! Thanks so much!

Wonder why their bloom times are slightly different than Adelman's and Hollingsworth? Do you suppose it is climate and the plants adapted to the Netherlands? Several that they have "very early" are not listed as very early on other sites...I am still trying to understand all this.

Liz...do your peonies in bags bloom a lot differently than in the ground or does it just vary...Greenworks on a different pdf they said that a number of peonies won't bloom in pots... I am wondering if the bags have as much success as the ground or if it still varies.

I need to keep a similar spreadsheet to record when my peonies would flower in SoCal, they may not follow the rest of the countries. This will allow to go on vacation after they're done blooming. I know one year I went on vacation before my apricots are ripened, when I came back, they were all gone. I have lots of seeds left and that's it.

Annie, bloom time may differ in different climates. Some people manage to grow peonies in huge pots and they bloom extremely good. There is one peony lover in Zurich with a lovely garden on a roof, his photos on FB Planet Peony are amazing. I try to plant a peony from a pot as soon as I can.

Anya, I saw his pictures...wow so amazing! I love experimenting..but I always want my experiments to work even though I know that I learn tons from failures...I just don't like them.

Other than my tree peony, I put my cheap baby peony roots in bags, I am hoping it will bypass the digging them up if they are not true to name...and I would have to make a new bed for them, which I wasn't ready for. I will see what spring brings and go from there.

Annie, I don't have enough experience with bagged peonies to tell if they perform better. I think that the bags were the best option for me to leave plants mainly unattended in wet AL—I actually had less fungal issues with those left in bags than with those in the ground and several bloomed last spring from the ones that were out there from the previous fall. All of those were inexpensive herbaceous, though—I didn't take any woodies out until this fall. I don't think the woodies did better in the garage in bags but they did survive and hopefully will do better in the ground. A lot of the ones in bags were actually fairly tight even when originally planted, the biggest I had last fall to put them in was 10 gallon and several of the Adelman's barely fit.

That was one of the things I remember about AL that we have here is rain! It is good to know that the bags help with the rain and fungus..although right now they are on a covered porch because the rain was so bad this year. I may move them out in Jan. which is usually dry.

I guess I will just have to see.....I'll be interested to see how yours do this spring too.

Karen, I remember you grow Moon over Barrington. Is it so outstanding as a a cut flower and nice as a bush?
