Hi Alice. That's a very good question. Been looking for some for a couple of years that aren't too spendy. There are a few online choices that offer bulbs and glass vases. Also online choices of just glass vases which are are way too spendy. Some local nurseries have both just depends on your area. They are also at a reasonable price at big box stores ie;Home Depot, just different designs than spendy bulb styles.

I have 17 amaryllis I am growing and for some bulbs I just placed glass marbles in the bottom of a couple glass vases with distilled water. I have compromised on vases I already have not designed for amaryllis bulbs still ok did same last few seasons.

Thanks Bea, I wanted this for a gift and found some that caught my eye at White Flower Farm but they were super spendy and shipping was 18.00 on top.
Galivanting around to pick up supplies to make up a kit is out right now as I am staying close to home that is why I was hoping to find a ready made one online. I might have to think up something else.

Home Depot takes orders online and delivers. Even Amazon has them.

No running about I think that's a good idea.

I just did a quick search for mail order bulbs in glass. They are all pretty expensive and you might not get them by Xmas. If you got a bulb, you could use any container, that is stable. You don't want something which would tip over when the scapes get tall. A suggestion would be a mason jar, with pebbles. I understand you not wanting to have to run around, esp. at this time of the year. You just might find something in your home that would work. Or something at the grocery store that could work. Would love to see a photo of your finished gift.

Thanks, If it were for myself or for a local person I would have gone that route but I needed to send a gift and thought something from a grower would be best. I have done the jar with pebbles myself years ago when my children were young (they are middle aged now LOL.) I almost went for one from the White Flower Farm but in the end I sent a plant instead. Shrug!
