Thread OP

I recently purchased this choquette avocado tree which I had shipped from a local nursery. When I opened the box the leaves were a little droopy so I gave it a good watering but the leaves never really perked up. I just planted it in the ground yesterday. When I took it out of the pot there was barely any root ball, just like a handful of scraggly roots hanging from the trunk. I tried planting it as carefully as possible. The leaves still look droopy, but I'm not sure if that's just how it's supposed to be. The pictures below are from when I opened the box and from just now about 24 hours after planting. Do you think it will be ok?
Thanks

Droopy leaves = Soggy feet.

The nursery that sold you the young tree watered it generously before the trip to your home. Maybe too generously.
The tree was probably not well insulated in its box and spent time on the road and/or in a warehouse at below comfort temperatures, thus exacerbating the issue.
And while well intentioned, your further watering made thing even worse.

What should you do now? Nothing but pray you have at least a fortnight of dry, warm weather to allow the roots to dry up.

Oy I'm in south Florida and we just got 2.5 inches of rain overnight and it's still raining. Forecast looks dry after this morning so hopefully it'll dry out. Thanks for the response.
