Anyone ordered chrysanthemums yet? I put in an order with King's. They only had one offering they didn't have last year (Vyron) but pulled Pearl Edward Shaw due to poor performance. The catalogue says they hope to offer some new cultivars next year though!

I'm getting:
King's Delight
Saffina
Natalini
Whisp of Pink
Saga Nishiki
Shirley Primrose
Kimie
Le Mans
Samson
Golden Rain
Pat Lawson

I'm thinking of adding to my order.
Crimson Tide
Seaton's Ruby
Apricot Alexis

Bluestone has some fun football mums too but pricier of course. I may get one with some other perennials in March if they aren't sold out.

This is a collage of a bed I want to put together. It will be peonies in the spring and chrysanthemums in the fall. Hoping to get some annuals squeezed in there for the summer.

Left to right:
Crimson Tide
Shirley Primrose
Bola de Oro
Saffina
Seaton's Ruby
Apricot Alexis

I think I've placed my order in, for nearly enough to keep me busy. This year, I'm avoiding late delivery. (Not the same, as a "delayed", delivery!)

We've both selected a couple of the same cultivars. Those are; 'Natalini' & 'Golden Rain'.

I'm hoping I can try for a single stem, & disbud, for a final "end result", of a rather large single bloom. It isn't always so easily accomplished !
Well worth the effort, as I've managed to get some amazing results, in previous years.
Yours look quite nice.

Some, probably do appear to look better, with more blooms.
It all depends...

I tried leaving sprays and disbudding on the same plant lasy year (I had 3 stalks). It was just an experiment but I rather liked having a variety of sizes on one plant.

I went to take a look at what King's had and they are already sold out for 2021. I wasn't going to order but I was just curious. I am looking forward to seeing your pictures next fall.

If you're ordering from G.H Wild they have a few chrysanthemums on offer. Not the most exotic but some pretty nonetheless. Their prices are good too, only $4.50 each.

I think Jung, may offer some also. Those may be more cold hardy, than some of the ones offered by Kings.
I haven't looked, or purchased from elsewhere, as I like the traditional "Spider", " Spider & Spoons", or otherwise so called Fuji style, Mums.
I just didn't get many images, this past Autumn. (Some others are already in the Database, though.)

That is gorgeous! But I am limiting my chrysanthemums to perennial open flower types for the pollinators. I will have to just enjoy your pictures. Did you ever try to overwinter cuttings to increase your display?

Hi Loretta. Usually the most important thing to me, is getting the rooted cuttings extracted from some sort of "Elle pot" (?) As I think that prevents root growth. I would much prefer removing a piece of soggy old newspaper, to that, any day.

I've found it in other perennials before, which performed poorly. (Usually, discovered, upon plant "autopsy" & being of suspect !)

I haven't tried rooting cuttings in winter before. I think they usually perform better, when they are taken in Spring, using the faster growth to root.

Unless, perhaps it is from an
elongated root growth, cut & removed from below the surface of the growing medium.
Otherwise, unless a really deep freeze is predicted, they stay outdoors, all winter long.

So they overwinter for you?
