Ordered a plant through Walmart and unfortunately received the wrong plant. After contacting Walmart, they were able to get the shipper to respond, and Mr. Hirt was very generous and sent me the Banyan tree plant I ordered and told me to keep the Spath.
Both plants arrived in excellent condition, well packed. I was very impressed and want to let everyone here know that Hirt's gardens went above and beyond correcting the error, and want to encourage everyone here to consider ordering plants as we begin 2021 surrounded by the bleakness and harsh reality of a pandemic going on for over a year. How better to make a statement than to surround ourselves with a new, living plant to nurture and bring color during the winter. And on top of that, you will be supporting an American company which is needed more than ever in our life time.
And for those that already know me, the plant sent by Hirt's garden was the Ficus benghalensis, Audrey Banyan tree, which is significant because our bitch gave birth to three puppies last Memorial Day weekend, and the boy we kept to raise has a registered name of Sacred Banyan. I never thought in my wildest dreams we could grow a Banyan tree, but alas Hirt's garden made it all possible. A perfect addition, since we have a volunteer Coastal redwood sprout last summer and the redwood is in the Sequoia family with our other litter mate named Mighty Sequoia.

Lilpod13, I love your thoughts--let's get planting! I am fortunate that here in the Willamette Valley we have many growers who source locally or regionally raised plants and seedlings so results are usually pretty good no matter what is planted (as long as you keep the deer at bay!). This year, I'm going with bareroot Nanaimo peaches from the wet side of Washington. From all I have read, these are our best bet for avoiding peach leaf curl. When I was growing up here, it seemed like everyone had a peach tree, but they often struggle these days. I just think that my grandma had the "gift" of being able to grow anything. I'm working on becoming that person!

BTW, your little ones are adorable!

I am fortunate to have several great local nurseries here and have been adding to my shrub collection the last few months after some major garden cleanup. My only mail ordering was for dahlia tubers from various vendors that specialize in them and they start arriving in March. Looking forward to a nice therapeutic garden year!

I'll say Amen to that! I also had no idea you could order a plant though Walmart, and Hirts garden? I'll have to look into that.
