Thread OP
GA
i've tried multiple rounds with these leaves and other plant leaves at different times of the year. we live in a warm climate in the south and our house stays warm this time of year. i've had 0 success propagating any leaves Sad no roots, plants, etc come from the leaves. so sad! my last batch of leaves shriveled and dried up and some rotted. if anyone could help that'd be appreciated. i just have the worst luck with plants! these have been kept near a window and away from the window and it doesn't seem to make a difference

Welcome!

Although you are being very careful, you aren't getting the entire base of the leaf off the stem of the plant. The new plants will grow from the axil of the leaf - if its not there or damaged, the leaves will rot. I only propagate leaves that fall off by themselves for this reason.

Also, choose mature plump leaves from the bottom of the stem. But your plant is so young and small, why are you taking it apart?

Silly Daisy, you're on the propagation forum! We're obsessed with propagation! I take so many cuttings it takes years for my plants to reach adulthood.

Try sticking them in slightly damp cactus mix. Plenty of light helps too.

If you "bump" the leaf sideways, it should fall off intact. Only use firm, healthy leaves. Those already starting to shrivel are unlikely to produce roots/baby plants. Lay the leaves in a spot at least as sunny as where the mama plant is, make sure they are not upside-down.

These were started right-side-up but photographed upside-down because that is where the growth happens. Until you see roots coming out, no moisture can be used, no need to add any.
