Hey, it's almost spring. Not really, but I'm trying to cheer myself up after our cold and wet January.

February is American Heart Month, so the thumbnail photo is Heart O'Gold, an almost freakishly tall grandiflora in my favorite color combination -- yellow and pink.

That is a beautiful rose. It may not be spring yet, but we are getting closer.

"The collector's edition rose is not only a decades-long tradition, but a fundraiser for the nonprofit group. "Burst of Hope" will be available exclusively at the Portland Nursery and $2 of each sale will go to the Portland Rose Festival Foundation."

Bumplbea,

Well that's quite the spectacular rose, particularly when I read the description in the article you linked. Huge number of petals, striped, and fragrant too! So did Weeks donate this rose to the Portland Rose Festival before releasing it commercially? It is not listed on HMF. If so, that's pretty cool.

Bumplbea, that's the same article you linked, and I read, in your original post. I still have the same question about Weeks donating a new unreleased rose to the Portland Rose Festival. Thanks!

There are roses in there but some are so small they don't show up in the photos. The gorse and blackberry is gone from the background as well. The electric fence doesn't bother me anymore because I know it is doing the job.

Hi, Lola,
Lovely new designs for your roses in landscapes!!! It is soooo much fun to start all fresh and new... lots of work, too! An amazing accomplishment and beautiful art project. We are all artists in our gardens! I love your creative designs!
Kudos for your hard work that you can now enjoy!

Hi, Friends,
I am thinking about ordering Fairy Tale roses from "Roses Unlimited" when they open on Monday! They seem to have the unique varieties that no one else has sometimes!

I am excited about ordering Kordes: Elegant Fairy Tale & Pomponella.... two roses fir my back yard hill.

Pomponella Fairy Tale
Thumb of 2021-02-06/Rosykittycat/72ceef

Elegant Fairy Tale... at end of this post....

Two very gracious roses. I am planting a White Iceberg & Brilliant Pink Iceberg on the back hill, too. On the hill is strawberries for me & squirrels to eat and ground cover, hydrangeas, peonies, Rose of Sharon bushes and more...

Near the bottom of hill on the flat ground will be 5 English roses I ordered at the end of the yard, too. I ought to draw the designs on the computer, for now it's w/colored pencils on paper. There are climber roses planted and other roses up the sides of my back yard, too. And bulbs and small flowers on the hill and in garden beds...That's my back yard.

I have other rose designs for my side and front yards. The back yard landscaping is brand new as of last summer. We will see how it takes shape as it grows this summer.

Enjoy our hopefully warmer February!!!! So hoping it warms up in NY.

Elegant Fairy Tale

I have been eyeing Pomponella for several years and finally ordered it for this spring! Can't wait to see what it does!
