Hello, has anyone had an experience to grow P. Imbe from seeds?

I have planted a few seeds in seed growing disks, keeping them on a heat mat and keep the soil moist all the time. It's been looong, probably 3 weeks?, and i see NOTHING going on.

Confused

Can anyone tell me how your experience has been with growing Imbe from seeds and how slow going (or not) it was especially at the start?

I have not tried growing Philodendrons from seed. I only grow Anthurium from seed, and their germination rate is variable by species. 3 weeks is nothing, I would not give up until after 2 months

Hi Gina, good to hear your experience. I planted five seeds. 2 months!!? i will patiently wait and check daily. btw, you know anything about schefflera by any chance? I also planted 10 and i see nothing on those either. i guess patience required for both.

Anthurium berries and Philodendron berries are treated the same. The seeds are removed from the berries and sown in the substrate of your choice....most people use damp moss in a prop box, but some people just use seed starting mix.

Hello, okiek i germinate a lot of different plant from seeds, with some species i ve grow rate of 90 100% with heating mat. I ve not much experience with philodendron, but also my gloriosum seeds are taking long and after 1 month i ve moved them outside in greenhouse in hope they reach ideal condition with spring. Some seeds take really long i got germination also after 4 6 month with ravenala madascarensis. Dont desist if they re not rotten. Just 1 suggestion is really usefull put trasparent film on 4/5 of pot and leave them in water 24 hour till they are gone on the bottom

Thank you, Franci, for sharing your experience. i finally got one germinated but later died (for unknown reason) baby leaves just fell off from the base and died. the other one has sprouted now, currently still alive. 4-6 months!? that is a long time. growing from seeds takes a lot of patience.

Hello, yes depend a lot from plants seasonal are faster tree takes ages and first year after sprouting is really hard expecially first winter . I ve two ravenala madascarensis from seed and after one year are 10cm (4 month fir germination). If you can keep tropical outside is easier. Lysichiton sprouted yesturday after 11 month

oh wow.. 11 month for germination.

those are gorgeous anthurium! are you growing it in sphagnum moss? does it work for other seeds too? I just got ficus altissima and wondering how best I can get it started.

I only grow Anthurium from seed. I pollinate my plants whenever I can to get berries/seeds. I have no idea if other seeds work in moss, but most aroid seeds do
