The sunflower was about 3.5" sprouted from shelled birdseed under the bird feeder. The bees are small, about 3/4 inch, of unknown species. The one on the edge was sleeping.

This is the original. I obviously rotated it. I did save a handful of the sunflower seeds. The plant is one flower sitting on top of an individual stem about 16-18" high. There are 52 sunflower species in Noth America and so far I haven't been able to identify it. Of course, the seeds could be from a cultivar, who knows I'm just going to have to compromise my "natives only" policy and plant them anyway; they are such a perfect size.

If it's from a birdseed source, I'd guess it's a cultivar or selection that is meant to be seedy, not ornamental. Your volunteer looks really charming, though...
