Jennifer,

You must not be too terribly far away from me. Smiling

I've wanted to order from Romence quite often, but their shipping rates are just too high for me. A trip up there would probably cost as much (in gas), but it might be more interesting than just chucking out twenty dollars for a four-fifty plant. Whistling

I'm working on putting together an order for Sequim Rare Plants. I just love what they send. Thumbs up Dollars to doughnuts, it's always a good deal.

Chelle,
I am a bit east of Detroit.

Yes gas can equal shipping. But I like hand picking my plants Hilarious! and the prices are cheaper when you buy at the nurseries.

Last year I took my neighbor with me to Bluestone. It made the drive go by so fast. We had such a lovely time. I am lucky she is almost always up for a plant road trip.

I also discovered a local landscape nursery that sells one gallon pots for $5 at the beginning, $4 mid season, and $3 in the fall!! There isn't a huge variety but I ALWAYS manage to find things I don't have and at those prices I am willing to try stuff I may not even care for! They also have rock bottom prices on trees and shrubs. That is a whole new realm for me and a low risk way for me to start.

Welcome! Jennifer!

Lucky you! To be able to drive and pick out your plants and look around are wonderful! Hurray! Thumbs up

Here's another garden place in MI. http://www.deerresistantplants... Don't know if you can walk in or not, but I've ordered plants (Agastaches) and have been happy. Dave is the owner.

I'm sending acorns to ya so you can get more badges (state of MI, comes to mind). Group hug

I've been putting together a group buy (local pickup or spring plant swap delivery) for lilies... I have a pretty good order in to ADR plus one for Bert's TouchofNature sale http://www.touchofnature.com/s... . By working with 2 vendors, we're getting a pretty wide selection of pretties!

And while it's not plants, I just got an order from Watersorb (polymer moisture crystals) that I'm splitting with some friends and sharing with family also. They were nice enough to give me an extra discount, so the medium size crystals (the size of the ones you find in stores under brand names like "soil moist") came to $5 per pound with shipping. Their prices on smaller amounts are also a really good deal compared to store prices (per pound generally works out to less than what I've seen marked on 8 or 12 oz. containers), and a little goes a really long way! I've "sold off" half of them, and hopefully I won't have to order any more for a long time! I do go through a lot of them, though, just as with potting mix... I like to order little plants (or propagate my plants from little divisions & cuttings) and then grow them on for a season or two so I have big plants for the garden.
We're all learners, doers, teachers.

That sounds like a good deal on the moisture crystals, Jill. Thumbs up

I went a bit lily-crazy last year, so this year I'm picking up a few more iris for my stream bed garden instead.

I'm still amazed by the wonderful plants Sequim sent me last year, so this year I've ordered from them - Iris Exuberant Chanty and variegated Iris Japonica Aphrodite. I'd have ordered more if their other iris selections were hardy here.

This is the first time I've ordered from Almost Eden.

Ordered Porterweeds (one of each). I used to get them from Bustani, but they haven't been doing mail order for a few years and Almost Eden was the only place I could find.

Dwarf Red Porterweed
Stachytarpheta sanguinea

Purple Porterweed
Stachytarpheta frantzii

Coral Porterweed
Stachytarpheta mutabilis

They come in gallon pots. They look beautiful! Drooling Lovey dubby Thumbs up

I've ordered once before from Sooner Plant Farm (they're in OK) and was very happy. I got one Salvia plant at that time.

Great idea to have this thread. I just bought more pea seeds. I found a very interesting and new to me type of pea called 'Sugar Lace II' Snap Peas. I got a great deal on them buying them at Amazon. Got an entire pound of them. I still have pea Cascadia seeds here to plant, already planted some Super Sugar Snap. So in case I have too many it would be no problem as I plant a second crop of peas in the fall. In fact those Cascadia seeds are left over from last fall.

Chelle,

Maybe you could hit Garden Crossings as well as Romence? If you know anyone who has a plant license you can also get into Walters! Jennifer and I have made many "plant trips," but then, we are CRAZY! We were planning on doing that route when I go to Mi. in April but she cancelled out on me. Thumbs down

Everyone is ordering from places I never knew about so next year I am going to expand my horizons! I do limited plants though because I start most from seeds for economy.

I got a Spigelia Marilandica purely by accident on one of our local (Ann Arbor) trips and I didn't even know what it was. I brought it with me to GA, not knowing if it would survive but I uploaded a picture of what it looked like last spring to the database. I think it may be big enough to divide this year! Yay, but very nervous, I don't want to kill it. But now that I know where I can get another, not so scar Smiling y.

I'd like to visit those nurseries, too!

I definitely want to give Ensata Gardens a call and see if they'd welcome a tour of their place. I bet it's fabulous! I could easily do a Kalamazoo area day-trip. Smiling

PARK SEED

i didn't order any plants this year since i am starting all over at our new house plants would be much to costly . so i ordered a ton of seeds instead from Park Seed . my husband's eyes almost popped out of his head when he saw the charge on our debit card . but bless his sweet heart he never said a word . he simply ask if that was my purchase . i kind of hung my head and said uh huh , then giggled with glee . my christmas gift this year was a 6x8 greenhouse so i guess he figured it was pointless to have without something to grow in it . i bought 1 of each

On March 20,

Just placed a second order at High Country Gardens for this Spring.

Ordered
3 of Agastache aurantiaca (Orange Hummingbird Mint)
1 of Salvia 'Ultra Violet'

Good thing I ordered when I did, because they're out of Agastache aurantiaca

Just placed an order at Select Seeds for 3 plants, one of each: (first time ordering there)

Agastache 'Apache Sunset'
Agastache 'Astello Indigo'
Agastache 'Summer Breeze'
