Hey everyone went bought some pipe at lowes to start my hoophouses or greenhouses my question is.. i know if i bend 3 10ft sections of pipe and put them together i get 30 ft..if i bend two 10ft sections i get 18? i just gain 2 more feet of floor space? it will take 50 peaces of pipe to do a 18x100 not counting my pipe on top... and it will take 75 peaces of pipe to do a 20x100.. question is would.. i be better off building 3... 18x100 hoop houses..or the 20ft wide ones im looking for more space if it means building smaller... ones so be it.. im looking at price per square ft...not to mention plastic i just want more growing space for my buck i have 200 pipe no biggie just debating what to do

your math seems off
2 pc of 10ft=20ft = 6.36 wide
3 pc of 10ft=30ft = 19.10 wide

Using 2 - 10'6" sections for a hoop would get you just under 13' wide.

Using 3 - 10'6" sections for a hoop would get right about 19' wide.

Sounds like you must be commercial growing with that much space requirement!

I had plans of building 2- 14x25', in hindsight, I think I should have planned to just extend the 25' if more room was needed. Would have saved me on a door, lumber, and the fan/exhaust/wiring setup.

3x10.5'=31.5'x2= 63' circle circumference
63' circle circumference divided by π = 20.063' diameter = the width

Sorry for jumping in - and maybe I missed some discussion about this elsewhere; but I didn't see any mention above about the height of the HH, which obviously changes the width for a given length of pipe.

Here's a link to a calculator that might be helpful: https://www.handymath.com/cgi-...

That's quite a project you have going, Nakoma - I can't wait to see photos of your progress!

I must have missed the part where it was explained what the pipe was made of. Smiling

I just noticed that the link I posted for the arc calculator wasn't correct, edited my post to fix that.

According to that calculator, if you use 35 feet of pipe, and your arc is 24 feet wide, the center will be 10.6 feet high.
