Hi Perennial people!
I bought 2 pots ( typical garden center gallon) of a type of echinacea called Sombrero Salsa Red. I bought them on sale and late last year, they were practically giving them away, and plopped them each in a hole and called it good. February, and they are coming back, showing growth now (Zone 6 a or b maybe 7a/b according to this site-- East Central NM). I am thinking of digging them up in March or April, bisecting the bunch while in growing mode, and then spreading them out in the garden more.

So is that a good idea? Or should I let them grow a year and develop more where they are?

Thanks!

At a one gallon size I do not think there would be enough to divide. My experience with them is very small divisions do not do well.
