Thread OP

Hi All,

I'm the propagator at a native plant nursery in Western Massachusetts. We specialize in growing native plants from seed to plug size. We've recently purchased and are currently installing a couple of ebb & flow benches from Innovative Growers Equipment, with a water holding tank, pump, and timer.
Does anyone have any experience with these benches?

Mainly my questions are related to the water holding tank.

1.) Does the water get funky in the tank quickly? How do you check/monitor it? How often do you empty and refill with fresh water? We do not use pesticides/herbicides to treat the water or plants.

2.) Do you find increased pest issues from having open standing water in the greenhouse? Or fungal issues for the same reason? We imagine covering with window screen will help but still...

We are thinking of installing a Y in the drain to periodically drain the benches directly to the ground (also after fertilizing with organic fish fertilizer).

Any insights on this system or flood bench systems in general would be greatly appreciated!

In solidarity,

Alexis Confused
