I have a question and I know someone here must know the answer because I personally have learned quite a bit since I joined. Is there anyone that might know what the purpose of the hairy petioles on a philodendron Serpens are used for? I've read somewhere that hairy to prevent being eaten, to collect or spread the water collected on the plant and also be used to spread seeds. Does anyone know if this is true or what their hair petioles are used for?

I have absolutely no idea myself. I know the hairs are called squamules but do not know what their purpose is
