I keep hearing ordering from reputable peony dealers is the best was to go, as one would imagine. What are the reputable places that sell peonies. Where do you get yours from? I know of Solaris farms, and fina gardens. Are there others?

I can recommend peonies from Solaris, Adelman, Fina, Brooks, GH Wild and Sons, Swenson Gardens, Jung, and Hollingsworth.

Not so reliable are Michigan bulb and Blooming Bulb. I have ordered from both.

I can add Gold City (they retire next year) and Homesteadfarms.

We do post photos of the roots we received in the Fall, so do check out the threads that include "Roots" in the title. That way you can see what the suppliers send.

You should update your profile with your growing zone. Performance of peonies really varies if you are on either end of the normal range of zones 3 to 9.

I haven't had good luck with Hollingsworth. I spent over $200 2 years ago and not a single thing from them came up with a bulb this year.

Everything I ordered from Alderman's came up this year, except for tree peonies, they are not up yet, so I'm not expecting much. Same with Solaris, amazingly good. 2 out of 3 came up with flower buds, the third one has not emerged yet.

Gold City is another excellent one, I ordered 3 roots, 2 came up with flower buds, one is emerging so don't know, the free root has no bud though.

Lyndaker is excellent, one of her roots came up with 3 buds, the other 2 are tree peonies and they are not up yet.

I wouldn't order again from Mary's patch garden. I paid more money but the results are not up to expectation.

Oh my peonies is very good.

Lily Garden is surprisingly good, unexpected really.

I ordered a lot from Song Sparrow but only one has a flower bud.

Everything (Lilys) I have received from The Lily Garden has been excellent, customer service is also above and beyond.

I have ordered from Hollingsworth for many years and they are very reputable. I am within the normal range for peonies (in zone 7a).

2 that I ordered from to keep shipping down: The Lily Garden is a lily hybridizer and will ship both lillies and peony roots in the fall.

I also got good roots from Homestead Farms Nursery, because I ordered daylilies and peony roots (small peony root selection).

Last summer I ordered from Adelmans, Swensons, And Hollingsworth. I don't have room for more this year but would go to these sources.
