Gina stunning, how big is the biggest leaf now that you've had it for over ten years?

I actually have 6 of these. All propagated from the first plant. I got this years ago when it was inexpensive...it was in tissue culture here under the name Anthurium luxurians 'Quilted Heart'. Some people on the Internet who have the same plant have been trying to "reintroduce' it as a 'rare' form of Luxurians which I think is dishonest. They sell for between $500-$900 now depending on where you buy them which is totally ridiculous. The largest leaf on the biggest one is about 13-14 inches

They sell for ridiculous price in Europe. Interesting fact that they were TCed already 10 years ago - another fine example of a bubble. I believe they are very hard to buy as well, at least recently people were crashing ecuagenera site hoping to get one. Artificial deficit again. And your plant is lovely btw

@TitoBandito, yes this one was a TC plant in about 2010. Ecuagenera has plants for sale here at their Apopka FL site for $500 each. No one has been buying lately, they have had them every week for about a month. I have propagated mine religiously so that when they bloom, I can try and make hybrids with other plants

And somehow I'm not surprised that they are selling it as a novelty, even though they've been mass produced since at least 10 years ago. I mean, it's a beautiful plant, but $500 come on.

I'm pretty sure I remember people sharing the news every time ecuagenera was restocking them on European groups couple of months ago and there was a lot of commotion and complaints that the site was crashing Big Grin

Probably. They advertised them heavily for a while before they ever got the plants. I was there in person twice when they had already received the stock, and they were ALL on a table marked 'reserved'. They had already been bought from the Ecuadoran site and imported specifically to fill orders. So none were for sale actually at the nursery even though they had a table full. They do that a lot. People who don;t want to pay the elevated prices they are charging on the USA website or go in person will order things specifically from the Ecuadoran website and have it 'imported'. That way they get the cheaper price being sold overseas, but don;t have to deal with actually importing plants themselves. One of the reasons that the US site elevated their prices so much is because people come to the nursery (or order through there) and are flipping the plants. Sometimes they don;t even take them out of the Ecuagenera container. They got tired of selling a plant for $30 and having someone buy 5 and resell them for $300 apiece. They figured they might as well get the extra $$
