I planted two grapevines earlier this spring. Now the have lots of clusters of buds on them. Are they going to set fruit? Should I remove the buds to let the grapevines focus their energies on root growth?

The grapes are a seedless Niagara and a seedless Concord. I live in Central Texas.

Generally all flower buds are removed for the first three years, while the vine is being trained. Just remember to prune when the plant is dormant (next Fall will be perfect) because Fox grape tends to ooze large amounts of sap from open wounds.

Thanks. I just took your advice and cut off all the flower buds.

They're tied to pillars of my patio. Looking forward to the results, if God gives the growth!
