I have put all of the baby succulents which were growing from leaves (the leaves have now completely dried up) onto some soil in a pot.

The roots are just lying flat against the surface of the soil, exposed. Since this is what has happened naturally I take it I don't need to do anything and they will just make their way down into the soil eventually?

Or should I cover the roots with a layer of soil? Or poke holes into the soil and make the roots go down into the holes?

Thanks.

Doesn't really matter. You can poke a little hole for them if you want.

Either or both. Smiling They aren't doing much good if they're on top of the soil, mainly because the top layer tends to go dry really fast, way sooner than the soil at depth.

I start plants from leaves in a regular (small) pot so that their roots have some orientation from the very beginning.

I guess possibly in nature, those roots would end up covered with at least a light dusting of soil when the soil is dry and it's windy. Also, there's organic debris which can land on top of the roots covering them like leaves and whatever which will turn into compost/soil.

I'll cover the roots. Smiling
