Help! I'm in Zone 7 - Maryland, and I don't know what kind of
Clematis this is : 1, 2, or 3- which means I don't know if I should deadhead it or not once these blooms are spent. It's been in the ground for 2 years now. Everything from last year had died down, so all of this is new growth, which started sometime in March. This is a pic from this afternoon. Since I took the pic, 2 more blooms have opened! Thanks so much for any advice/info!!!

Hard to ID as there are so many purple ones. Most are Group 2's.

So do you think I need to deadhead it once these
blooms are spent, or should I just leave it alone?

I would deadhead if you don't want seeds?

I rarely deadhead right after the booms fade because I love the swirly seed heads, once these fade, I'll trim back lightly the branches that contained the blooms, clip out anything brown or overly tangled.
