The entire composition of the bed might change by mid to late summer. The tree that has shaded this bed, and another larger bed, was severely damaged by the ice storm we experienced last October. I'm estimating the crown of the tree has lost 50% of its density... and this will significantly affect the shade loving plants in these beds. The tree is a Silver Maple... and it might recover its crown faster than other trees. But complete recovery won't happen this season... so I will keep a close watch for any plants that might need to be moved.
On a small, but positive, note there might be enough light for the Bishop's Weed [Aegopodium] to bloom. It has grown in a nicely controlled manner for seven years, but it has never bloomed. I love its blooms and hope they appear.
