They sent me an email saying they'll give me a matchstick mum if I complete the order. I just think it's too high priced for now. I have had problems with dark sedums before so I'm afraid to buy one at that price.

I liked the $7 off thing, but I wasn't really thinking how pricey that would still be...I guess that's what you get if you want to be the first to own a specific plant!! Big Grin

My Angelina Sedum is BEAUTIFUL right now. I finally got it to take off around the base of my Maple tree. I have been rooting cuttings and finally got a complete coverage with it. I had no idea it looked so good in the winter time. It has almost an orange/gold glow to the tips right now. I can see myself planting more and more varieties, especially the ones that stay so nice during winter. I need all the brightness I can get this time of the year!

Clint you all don't have snow?? In Seattle (zone 8) it also looks really good this time of year, it jumps right out at you! Do you know are there several that look like that one? Cause as I was typing this, I remembered that I have several 4 inch pots that have to be planted and a couple look similar to that, I'll have to check it out tomorrow!

We don't have much snow at all. We had a minor one, but the sedum wasn't effected much at all. This Angelina must be very hardy. I also like the Blue Spruce variety and one I have called Coral Reef. All of those look good right now. I keep breaking off pieces and sticking them here and there. The Delosperma plants are still green now too. They are another favorite.

I'm surprised about delosperma, it looks so "tender" that I never paid much attention, until this year and I'm seeing blooms through Dec and Jan...its funny how I don't notice things until I do, and then I think "oh this must just be an odd year"
I have Blue spruce also, and several others that I don't know what they are, I've never been good about keeping the cultivar names Sticking tongue out If I like it then cool!

Delosperma cooperi is one tough plant. I rooted some cuttings for my parents and they bloomed indoors last winter. My dad planted them in a hollow tree. We put it in their yard and made holes up and down the side of the tree. We planted Delosperma cooperi in all of the holes. I can't wait to see it this spring when all of these start blooming. We made it look like the tree was growing in their yard. LOL.

That sounds really cool! Please take photos once that blooms! Another plant that I thought would look good in my building's yard (I live in an apartment) is clematis, so I ordered a few a those, now I can't wait until they arrive! If they do what I want, its gonna look so amazing late summer! Big Grin

Clematis 'Rosemoor' is my favorite. Many of the ones people have only bloom for a few weeks, but that one blooms over and over. I got mine at Bluestone Perennials. I think I'll try to air layer it this year. I need more of them.

What is "air layering" ? where you place some of the vine on the ground and cover with soil and a rock or something? The one that I'm really excited about is a Tibetan one called "Orange peel" supposedly blooms from July through frost, and is small (1inch) yellow blooms that open to orange, and is a profuse bloomer and 16 feet tall! It will cover this retaining wall that I have!!

Yes. I think Serpentine Air Layering works well for Clematis. It's like you do each node to the soil. I think you can get one plant per node if you do it correctly. I have spoken to people who have done that and had good luck with it. I'll have to look for that orange variety!

For a photo you can look here www.joycreek.com warning though - lots of very cool varieties!
I may try that layering next year (after they have a year to grow in) I know friends of mine are going to want 'orange peel' if it ends up looking anything like the photo - blooms in different stages so its oranges and yellows all mixed, and the foliage is blue green! so lots of different tones!

That looks great. A friend here told me I need Clematis Rooguchi. I really like it, but I haven't had a chance to get it yet. I'm behind on my plant list. LOL.

Can be pricey!! But that air layering thing gives one something to 'trade' with Thumbs up The other ones I got are Tsubakuro, Cezanne and Belle of Woking (it started because I saw that banner! :tongue_smilie:) Its going to be amazing, I've been told it takes a year or so before one gets blooms, so I'm assuming next year! Waiting though!!

I have this one. And it really is easy to layer them.

That 'Orange Peel' is beautiful Greg.

I love the color of Clematis 'Rooguchi'.

Okay you two, now you have me looking at Clematis. Crying

Lynn - I know, me too!! However I think I've done all I can for this year, in terms of Clems!
Spring - that is a pretty one, I can't wait to go in my yard tomorrow and see what I have! I know its a rupestre and think its Angelina, but that Lemon one sounds familiar! I love all the variation of sedums! Lovey dubby
