Let's show off our best container combos this summer!

Most of mine are seedlings and still developing but I will update this throughout the season with photos.

I'd love to see your favorite combos too!

So far this one is my favorite.

I should add it's Begonia, Calypso Mimulus, Sapphire Lobelia and there's a trailing Coleus in the back.

Very pretty and very colorful! The begonia leaf color looks especially nice in that color of pot and the blooms and stand go nicely together as well.

Thank you Peggy!

It was just a cheap fake terracotta pot that I spray painted. It's amazing what you can do with a couple cans of spray paint.

Thank you Tiffany!

I really like your combo pots, all the plants look so healthy together. Did you overwinter the wax Begonia indoors?

The coleus with the Aptenia looks great!

Thank you! Yes, I bring the wax B's inside, and in regard to the pic, both of those pots will definitely be coming inside. If wax B's manage to score a great spot right by a window, they can keep blooming all winter. That humble common plant does not get enough credit as a great houseplant, IMVHO.

I'll have to pick some up now and try bringing a couple inside. There's nothing quite like having some blooms in the dead of winter.

These two window boxes are technically combos as they are planted with Mixed Superbissima Petunias. This is my first time growing these, they seem to be really strong plants.

I feel the same way about winter bloomers! My most reliable winter bloomers are Kalanchoe blossfeldiana.

Thanks, I'm hoping the petunias set blooms soon Crossing Fingers!

Magnificent! Steven, your pot feels so much like one I would make. You're this close to putting holes in the side of the pot & sticking stems through. These pics are not new, but they're some of my all-time favs. I'm still doing this, and a few of the pots still have the same plants, with individuals replaced occasionally as they get too big or I just want more cuttings.

Thank you Tiffany! I really like your hanging baskets. What did you use to make the holes in the side, without cracking the plastic? I have some Tradescantia cuttings I've been wondering what to do with. I think I know now ๐Ÿ˜.

Thank you! I used an awl to start a hole, then a screwdriver to make it bigger. On some I used pruning shears to snip out much bigger holes. It might seem counter-intuitive but I found it easier to make the holes & add snips of plants after the pot is already full. I had less cracking, and less dirt falling out of the holes. A drill would probably be more reliable.

I really enjoy it vs. looking at the empty space on the sides of hanging pots, and the holes help me save a lot more material when frost threatens, from plants I've stuck in the ground for summer landscaping.

Bea, those are so beautiful and incredibly healthy looking!

The Abutilon thompsonii is amazing, do you ever root prune or change out the soil? I had A. savitzii and it got horribly pot bound rather quickly. Yours is picture perfect!

@sw_gardner. Thank You!
Abutilon can be fussy . I have not tried to root prune one just re potted into larger pots 2" larger each time. They tend to drop a lot of their leaves and their branches can get leggy . I pinch out the growing tips regularly during the growing season, and trim them back in fall.

They get white flies easily too. I use a systemic to control the insects. The roots don't like to sit in water and prefer a fast draining soil and don't like to dry out. This is the time of year to put them outside , they look their best in a week or two. They do well in full sun in the morning and part shade in the afternoon. I fertilize half strength liquid for flowering plants every other time Its watered.
