Thank you! I used an awl to start a hole, then a screwdriver to make it bigger. On some I used pruning shears to snip out much bigger holes. It might seem counter-intuitive but I found it easier to make the holes & add snips of plants after the pot is already full. I had less cracking, and less dirt falling out of the holes. A drill would probably be more reliable.

I really enjoy it vs. looking at the empty space on the sides of hanging pots, and the holes help me save a lot more material when frost threatens, from plants I've stuck in the ground for summer landscaping.
