I bought Peach Firefly at Lowes last year, they are supposed to get about 2ft tall? Mine is close to 3 feet NOT happy about that, and it was peach when I bought it, this year it bloomed red looking, not happy about that either, but it is pretty. The bottom parts are starting to look leggy and dying, I assume to lack of sunlight getting to those bottom areas? But there is nothing around them shading them either. They are in full sun, no shade at all. After they bloom do I cut them back and how far? Will they rebloom?

I grow yarrow in full sun and part shade in dry dusty soil. I've noticed different cultivars behave very differently in the garden.

Do you do supplemental watering? Just an idea but it's possible moisture around the bottom of the plant caused the leaves to die back or it could be the cultivar.

When you bought the plant last year was it already in full bloom? Often the flowers start out one colour and fade to another. Perhaps it will fade to the peach shade from last season.

If you cut it back one quarter to one third you *should* get some rebloom. If you just want to regenerate the foliage you can cut it back as much as you like.
The neighbor's lawn is always nicer.

yes it was blooming in the pot when I bought it, that's why I was so shocked at the color difference. It has rained so much here the past few months, I have only watered it a time or two. I had not thought of the color changing as they fade.

Thanks for the pruning tips, I've never grown it before so that was helpful. Thumbs up

I cut off individual flower stalks and leave the foliage. Mine sends up intermittent new blooms until fall, but not as heavily as the first flush. My cultivar, Sunny Pastels, starts deep pink (almost raspberry) and fades to completely white.

Not all necessarily do. But your "Firefly Peach Sky" will change quite a bit. The grower's description says so and also that it grows 32"-36". Since I see you've posted it in the NGA database, you probably read the description there. Your reddish peach will undoubtedly fade to the lighter color you prefer.

Well PW website says "Light peachy orange flowers age to yellow." but mine are more of a dark raspberry at present, guess I'll see what they do. Ha, I didn't even see that about the height, I must be thinking of something else, when I planted it, I thought 18-24 inches, I don't know why I didn't see that 36 Green Grin! Now it is in a dumb spot and I have shorter things behind it Rolling my eyes. So I may just move it later on and rearrange some things. Still a bummer about the lower foliage dying off though, maybe I'll plant something short to grow up around it....

I bought another PW this past week at Lowes, FIREFLY SUNSHINE, and it has med yellow-green flowers. Hoping it will thrive on a rock with abuse lol Hilarious!

I understand being frustrated about the color. Coincidently, I got my Sunny Pastels several years ago, based on the label that said "white, cream, lemon, orange and red flowers" which sounded really fun. There is no indication that this was a mix of different colored plants — it was a gallon pot. It turned out to be dark pink, fading to white. I specifically don't care for pink. Confused Thumbs down

I don't know why your lower leaves are like that, but overall those plants look really healthy. How many did you plant? Fyi, I've moved and divided mine three times in four or five years. Wait till it dies back; it transplants well. Thumbs up

I read somewhere that you are supposed to cut yarrow back and it will rebloom, but I don't have anything that blooms as welll as the first flush.

I am still experimenting with my yarrow. I don't remember where I got mine and have a tag that says 'New Vintage Violet' but it gets about 30" tall and reseeds. Howvever, NVV is only supposed to be about 14" tall and is not a reseeder.

Last year I put fencing around it to help it stand up. I did cut some of it back, but some of it went to seed and now I have some light pink, purple, and white seedlings growing a few feet away that are about a foot tall.

I also have the old-fashioned white kind that got out of hand and I was just out this morning pulling a lot of it out by the roots because I do not want it to take over the whole area.

Worth a shot. I just got some peony rings at a garage sale, so I might try that next year when the plant is still small.
