So I'm curious on people's thoughts about this topic.

I dont want a compost pile as I live in a suburb and my yards not quiet big enough. But, I read about planting your leftovers directly into the garden.

Has anyone had experience doing this? I've planted some leftover bananas and asparagus stems but it's to early to tell if its effective.

I'd love to hear about anyone's experiences (good or bad) and possibly a better way to deal with waste as I cant dig up the garden daily to add a banana peel.

I have done on- spot composting before
I usually collect a reasonable amount , then dig the hole in the middle of one of my 4X4 raised beds and bury the scraps. works best if the scraps are chopped small , better yet if you run them through a food processor . a lot of scraps can fit in a hole that way . must cover with at least 6'' of soil or you will attract insects/ creatures.

I would bury it very shallow, for warmth and oxygen to assist breakdown. You can preserve items if you remove oxygen by burying it too deep. But that kinda depends on your dirt, like clay vs sand, and the O therein. A hole with a sprinkle of dirt to cover is pretty loose and air can get to it. Not as good as on top and chopped up though if that makes sense.
