Hi! I don't a large experience with cuttings, but I've been trying water propagation recently. I'm using a container with an aquarium pump to keep areation flow. I change part of the water in a daily basis to make some ressemblence of an hydroponics. Everything's been looking ok the first two weeks until this slimy substance appeared on the cutting. I don't know what to do as I don't want to damage the plant.

I know how callus looks (or should look) and this thing it's kind of growing above the previous callusing formation. It doesn't seems to have damaged the cutting this far. What do you think it is? It's a different kind of callus or some kind of mold?

Actually I was thinking of algae too but I forgot to mention it.

The thing is it's been on the cuttings for a week now and even though I haven't seen that much growth on them, it doesn't seems to be hurting the cuttings either.

I've seen different consistencies and forms of callus on papers I've been researching so I'm not that sure if it's definitively algae

Hi & welcome! I'm not sure your cuttings are going to take. When a cut is made into wood, it's rare that water propagation goes well. Are you able to make a new cut farther up where the wood turns from green to brown?
