I have an opportunity to get a Thunbergia grandiflora, but I'm not sure where to plant it. I have a few questions.

Could I let it trail along the ground like a groundcover?

Could I let it climb a tree, or would it hurt the tree? (I live in 8b, so maybe it would die back in the winters. I don't know.)

Could it share space with a climbing rose?

I'm not sure it's hardy at all where you are, says Z10 here, although the enormous one I saw was in Z9:
Blue Sky Vine (Thunbergia grandiflora)

The one I saw just north of Orlando was ENORMOUS, and was easily out-competing Bougainvillea (one little bunch of Boug blooms sticking out, but the foliage was pretty much taken over by the Thunbergia.
This pic is taken from a 2nd floor window:

Beautiful, but seems as gigantic and endless as Wisteria.

Of course being at the edge of hardiness could help tame it if it must re-grow from the ground each spring. Do you have a giant property with a "back 40?"

The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The 2nd best time is now. (-Unknown)
