Hi folks. I garden in a New York City park and there are three massive London Plane trees lined up in a row. They are old and interesting trees, but every July they shed their bark. That's their habit. It's messy, but they were there before I was. Every July, I pick up the bark--huge swaths of card-paper textured stuff. Most of it I just dump into a trash can, but sometimes I just crumple it up in my hands (gloves help) and toss the one inch pieces into my mulch. I figure it is a nice supplement to the mulch, but I wonder if I'm helping or hurting my 50-60 rose bushes with this additive.

My question is...Is London Plane bark, crumpled up small, good, bad, or neutral mixed into garden mulch?

Mulch from virtually any organic matter is good, including yours.
I find myself most amusing.
