It's growing wild at the edge of the woods behind my house. Google image search identifies it as a smilax, but all the pictures I can find of those have dark blue almost black berries and mine has dark green. Are they just not ripened or is this a different plant entirely? Thanks in advance!

Those leaves and berries do resemble Smilax whose berries are usually green before maturing to purple and black. Here's a photo from our database for leaf comparison:
