Hi, Hurray!
I am growing cantaloupe for the very first time in my raised bed. It is grown vertically on a cattle panel. So far it has some melons of a handful in size.

Just yesterday I have noticed there is one vine turns brown on its one side. The whole affected area is about two feet long. It almost looks like the scars on injured and healed tomatoes stems. A few leaves on the affected area were also turning partially brown.

See the photo Crossing Fingers!
In the first photo, Right above where I pointed, it is brown on the left side of the vine. Thumb of 2021-08-24/Vash/38931f

In the second photo, it is a more of a frontal view on the affected area. But this brown stuff is only on one side of the vine.

I wonder what the problem is? And how to fix it? I don't want some kind of disease to ruin it. This is actually a main stem. So I hesitated in cutting it off. Besides, I am not sure what's causing it. Or if cutting it off will be helpful at all lol 😅

Help please? It is spreading along the vine toward the root. It is the main stem, so I am hesitating to cut it off. Besides, I am not sure cutting will stop the spreading.

Overall your cantaloupe looks healthy so I wouldn't worry about it. The only thing I see is the node just below your finger looks in picture #2 looks damaged. That may have caused the discoloration on the rest of the vine.

The vines and leaves on melons and other cucurbits often start to turn brown this time of year. But you might look along the vine to be sure its not getting pinched somewhere against the fence. If it is, try to ease the strain but be careful not to damage or snap the vine.

How is the fruit looking? And where are you located?

Hi, I am in northern Michigan.
This is my 4th year growing veggies and fruits in my garden. First time growing cantaloupe.

Talking about fruits, there isn't any on this plant yet. But a few showed up last week on other plants and growing bigger fast.

See the photos, the ones below were smaller than a grape just a week ago. But they are on a different cantaloupe plant.

As for the damaged node, it was probably a bad leaf cut off by me earlier. There were a few leaves partially turned brown and wilt. I cut them off.
