Would just like to know what types of trees these small ones from Southern Japan are - namely the one with the ribbon on it and the ones in the background on the right.

The one with the ribbon reminds me of Magnolia. Maybe someone will recognize it. Are you sure it was a tree and not a large shrub?

The one to the right looks like bamboo.
