Ahh. There are quite a few vines that grow like that; if you gave us a picture of the leaves that would help greatly.

This is probably a plant in the Celastraceae family, possibly a Celastrus or Euonymus.

Green stem and leaves put it in Euonymus sp.
The plant sends out aerial roots along the stem to help it to cling to trees...or buildings to allow it to grow taller.
