Thread OP
Athens, Greece: hot dry summer (Zone 10a)
Hi all

I have two alocasia macrorrhizos(?) seedlings from two pieces of the same bulb. They sprouted after one-two months but they both have torn leaves; The leaves were not torn when first opened. Also the oldest one lost its first leaf already and has only got one leaf.

They are both outdoors and they receive about 2 hours of direct sunlight a day. Temperatures range from 21 to 34 C (70-93 F). Humidity is rather low, at 40% during early afternoon, up to 80% at nights. I have placed them on trays with water and pebbles and mist them once or twice daily. I used to water once every 2-3 days but now I water every about 5 days. Lately we had some very strong winds.

The pot has drainage holes. It looks too big but it's because of the size of the bulbs. The medium is a standard potting soil unfortunately. I only gave them fertilizer for the first time these days.

What could be the issue? Should I repot and change medium? Could it be sunburn? The wind? Many thanks for any advice.

I am near Athens, Greece, on the coast.
